Taking risks
Cassandra Yazzie | JUN 6, 2024

What's a risk that you took recently? Maybe it was trying out for a new sport, asking for a promotion at your job, changing careers, trying something new, meeting new people, etc. Whatever it is, how are you feeling about it? Do you feel happy, okay, scared?
Did you know that taking risks is a part of life and can be very healthy for us!
-It can create new opportunities for growth, lead you in a new direction, and get you out of your comfort zone.
-It can bring you valuable experiences.
-It encourages creativity by inspiring individuals to think outside the box and explore possibilities they may not have considered before.
-You can increase your self confidence
Tips to ensure you take healthy risks include:
❤️Taking calculated risks, weighing the pros and cons. If you're going to look at the worst case scenario, you should also look at the best case scenario
❤️Don't be afraid of failure, it's part of the process
❤️Start small, take baby steps
❤️Build a support system
There are two components to risk: emotional and systematic.
*The emotional part often takes place unconsciously. There are certain things that we can’t even think about because they feel so scary. Those probably aren’t the best risks to start with, but they’re helpful to be aware of.
*The more you systematically approach your risks with a strategy in place for managing them, the more comfortable you’ll be thinking through those emotionally triggering risks.
I hope you feel more encouraged to take a risk for a better you and better future!
